In brief
Bilingual Thai-English school in Mae Hia, just south-west of Chiang Mai city, part of the Ambassador Education Group and serving roughly age 18 months through Grade 12. Core academic subjects taught in English with Thai language and culture alongside.
Founded by Ajarn Amporn Garmolgomut and built out of the Little Stars kindergarten line, ABA opened a new Mae Hia campus in 2021 with a committee from the Chiang Mai Provincial Education Office in attendance. The pull is the bilingual delivery without the full international-school fee level, which lands well with mixed Thai-foreign families and Thai families wanting English fluency for university routes abroad.
Day-to-day signal is largely positive: warm staff, good facilities by Chiang Mai bilingual standards, food that families actually mention, and small enough for staff to know each child. The fair counter, common to bilingual schools at this fee point in Thailand, is that academic depth and curriculum innovation are weaker than at the international IB and Cambridge schools further out at Hang Dong.
Reviews
- Parent reviews are largely warm. Ten Edarabia community reviews from 2023-2024 cite caring teachers, a "positive and nurturing environment", strong English-language exposure and good food.
- Cleanliness comes up as a counter-note. One student said the place was "decent but not clean, sometimes there would be flies everywhere in the cafeteria".
- Teacher-side feedback is sharper. Glassdoor reviews flag insufficient pay, contract non-compliance, last-minute schedule changes, weak student-discipline structure, and a focus on events and parent enrolment over education.
- Curriculum criticism: kindergarten reportedly has limited play time and a rigid learning structure, per staff reviews.
- Light-touch supervision is described positively by some teachers ("not micro-managed", "great visa help") but as lacking team spirit and resources by others.
