A bilingual Cambridge school under the Arthit Ourairat Institution, opened 2014, that positions itself as a bridge between Thai and international education at a more accessible fee point.

Cambridge curriculum from Early Years to Secondary, with Singapore-style maths and science layered through. Around 450 students, ages 1 to 18. Fees sit toward the lower end for an international school in Chiang Mai, which is part of the appeal for Thai families who want an English-medium education without committing to the top-tier price points.

Families who like SBS describe enthusiastic teachers, parent involvement, and visible improvement year on year as the school finds its feet. The criticisms that come up centre on staff turnover and administrative consistency, which is a familiar pattern for younger international schools at this fee level. Best understood as a school still building its reputation, with strong day-to-day relationships in the classroom and operational rough edges parents need to be ready for.

A Hang Dong campus that runs the Cambridge pathway end to end, with Singapore-school heritage layered in via the Rangsit University group. Around 485 pupils, ages 2 to 18, which keeps cohorts small at the senior end. Recent A Level and IGCSE sittings produced a handful of named graduates rather than a published board average. The public discussion is mostly older than the current leadership, so a school visit and a fee schedule comparison do more work here than the talked-about reputation.

Positives

  • Cambridge pathway, full continuum. EYFS through Cambridge Lower Secondary, IGCSE and A Level on one site. Useful for families who want to stay on one British-style track to university.
  • Hang Dong location. Sits in the same southwestern school belt as Prem and CMIS, roughly 30 minutes from the old city in normal traffic. A purpose-built campus rather than a converted building.

Considerations

  • Small senior cohorts. A school of around 485 across fifteen year groups means A Level classes are tight. The benefit is attention; the cost is a narrower subject list and a thinner peer group at the top end.
  • Student mix skews regional. The roll leans heavily Thai and East Asian, with English an additional language for a large share of pupils. Younger years adapt quickly; secondary newcomers from monolingual English backgrounds sometimes find the social scene narrower than expected.
  • Staff continuity. Turnover in the teaching ranks has been a recurring theme in older parent commentary. Worth checking which of the named subject teachers on the current site were in post the year before, and which are new.
