Best IB Schools in Bangalore
Bangalore's IB market, ranked. Indus and Stonehill anchor the top tier; full PYP-MYP-DP continuum at a third of Singapore or London fees.
The brief
- Longest IB track record: Indus International School Bangalore on Sarjapur, founded 2003, the city's first dedicated IB campus and still the largest IB-only operation.
- Strongest premium all-rounder: Stonehill International School at Tarahunise, the only Bangalore school running all four IB programmes (PYP, MYP, DP and CP), with a published 2024 DP average of 32.2.
- Strongest published DP results, dual pathway: The International School Bangalore (TISB), Cambridge into IB DP, with multiple 45, 44 and 43 scorers in 2025.
- Best mid-tier full continuum: Oakridge International School Bangalore on Sarjapur Road, PYP through DP, 34.07 DP average in 2022 at roughly half the Stonehill fee.
- Most important context: the 2024 global DP average was 30.32. Top Bangalore schools land 32 to 37 at fees a third of London or Singapore.
Bangalore has more IB World Schools than any Indian city outside Mumbai. The cluster is tech-corridor driven and unusually deep for a city where CBSE and ICSE still dominate locally. Twelve schools authorised to teach an IB programme make up the working shortlist below.
Geography concentrates east and north on Sarjapur Road, Whitefield and Yelahanka, tracking the residential pull of HSR Layout, Sarjapur and the airport corridor. Two schools sit south at Electronic City and one at Hennur Gardens.
The defining feature against Mumbai or Delhi is fee compression. The premium IB tier tops out around INR 12 to 13 lakh (roughly USD 14,000 to 15,000) for senior years, a figure that would barely buy a primary place at the equivalent school in Singapore, Dubai or Hong Kong. Campus scale, traffic, faculty turnover and co-curricular depth still vary sharply.
The top tier
Three schools sit clearly above the rest on cohort size, published DP results, accreditation and parent reputation.
Indus International School Bangalore
Indus is the anchor of the Bangalore IB market. Founded 2003, around 1,100 students aged 3 to 18 on a large residential and day campus at Billapura Cross, Sarjapur. IB-only pathway from primary through Diploma. Founder-head Lt. General Arjun Ray remains the public face.
Indus publishes university outcomes rather than cohort averages, the 2023-24 cycle highlighting a single scholarship of USD 393,000 and combined offers of USD 7.8 million. Detailed DP averages are not public. Fees INR 5,00,000 to INR 12,00,000 (~USD 5,990 to 14,370). The campus is sprawling and feels more Indian-residential than small-expat-international, which suits some families and not others.
Stonehill International School
Stonehill at Tarahunise, north of the city near the airport corridor, is the only Bangalore school authorised for all four IB programmes: PYP, MYP, DP and CP. Founded 2008, around 600 students, head Dr Brian Brumsickle. Holds CIS and NEASC accreditation, the strongest pairing on this list.
Published DP averages run 32.2 in 2024 and 33.5 in 2023, both above the global average of around 30.3. Fees INR 5,81,090 to INR 12,67,100 (~USD 6,960 to 15,170), the highest in the city. Boarding option from primary. The commute from central or south Bangalore is real; most Stonehill families live north or board.
The International School Bangalore (TISB)
TISB is the dual-pathway flagship, Cambridge IGCSE in middle years feeding into IB Diploma at sixth form, with PYP at the primary end. Founded 2000, around 1,170 students on a valley campus at NAFL Valley near Dommasandra, day and boarding. CIS-accredited. Head Kate Reynolds. Day fees roughly INR 5,50,000 to INR 11,00,000 (~USD 6,590 to 13,170).
The 2025 cohort produced multiple 45, 44 and 43 scorers, the strongest published DP results in the city for that year. TISB is therefore the strongest IB DP destination on results, even though the school is structurally British in its lower and middle years rather than full IB continuum. The cost is the daily run to NAFL Valley.
Strong mid-tier
Mid-tier Bangalore is genuinely competitive. Results are credible, fees materially lower than the top three.
Oakridge International School Bangalore
Oakridge on Sarjapur Road is the strongest mid-tier full IB continuum. Founded 2001, around 800 students, PYP through DP, head Pallavi Mishra. Fees INR 3,60,000 to INR 11,80,000 (~USD 4,310 to 14,130).
DP results are the standout: 2022 DP average 34.07, 97% pass rate, 11 perfect scorers on the all-India Oakridge cohort that year. MYP 5 highest score 56/56, 27.5% above 50. Oakridge sits inside the Nord Anglia group; the results carry this campus on their own.
Canadian International School Bangalore
Canadian International School Bangalore at Yelahanka is the other established premium choice. Founded 1996, around 700 students, CIS and NEASC accredited. Cambridge plus IB. Head Ted Mockrish. Day fees INR 5,11,000 to INR 10,30,000 (~USD 6,120 to 12,340).
Smaller and calmer than Indus or Oakridge. Published DP averages have historically run around 34 points, with the most recent public figure dating to 2018. The school is overdue a fresh disclosure; ask admissions for the 2023, 2024 and 2025 averages by name.
Neev Academy
Neev Academy at Yemalur is the boutique IB-and-ICSE option. Founded 2005, NEASC-accredited, head Kavita Gupta Sabharwal. Fees INR 5,50,000 to INR 11,00,000 (~USD 6,590 to 13,170). 2024 DP average 30 points sits at the global average. Neev's strength is its primary and middle culture rather than DP cohort size.
Greenwood High International School
Greenwood High on Sarjapur Road is the largest of the mid-tier, 2,000+ students across Indian and international streams. Founded 2004, Cambridge plus IB plus ICSE. Head Aloysius D'Mello. Fees INR 3,00,000 to INR 9,25,000 (~USD 3,590 to 11,080). IB Diploma results consistently above the global average on the school's reporting; cohort figures are not published year by year. Scale comes at the cost of intimacy.
Trio World Academy
Trio World Academy at Sahakar Nagar is the small-cohort IB outlier. Founded 2007, Cambridge plus IB, CIS-accredited, head Dr Brian Irving. Fees INR 3,00,000 to INR 8,75,000 (~USD 3,590 to 10,480). Has produced a perfect 45/45 Diploma score and runs IGCSE above the global average. Closer in feel to a high-end British prep-and-senior school than the larger Sarjapur Road campuses.
Candor International School
Candor at Electronic City is the strongest IB option in the south. Founded 2011, around 800 students, Cambridge plus IB, CIS-accredited. Fees INR 1,80,000 to INR 6,45,000 (~USD 2,160 to 7,720). Published destinations include King's College London, UBC and the University of Melbourne. DP cohort smaller than the Sarjapur or Yelahanka schools.
Smaller and value picks
Ebenezer International School Bangalore in south Bangalore runs Cambridge plus IB with around 1,500 students, fees INR 3,20,000 to INR 5,20,000 (~USD 3,830 to 6,230). Strongest published results sit on the Cambridge side (CIE 2024 100% pass rate, 52% above 75%); the IB cohort is smaller.
Bangalore International School at Hennur Gardens, founded 1969, is the city's oldest. Around 500 students, Cambridge plus IB, CIS-accredited. Fees INR 1,78,200 to INR 3,03,000 (~USD 2,130 to 3,630), the most affordable CIS-accredited IB school here.
Treamis World School in south Bangalore runs IB DP and PYP alongside Cambridge and CBSE. Around 1,500 students, fees INR 2,54,000 to INR 3,53,000 (~USD 3,040 to 4,230). The IB stream is small relative to the CBSE and Cambridge streams.
Best for full IB continuum (PYP and MYP and DP)
For a child starting in PYP at age 3 and finishing on the same pathway at 18, the list narrows.
- All four IB programmes (PYP, MYP, DP and CP): Stonehill International School.
- PYP + MYP + DP: Oakridge International School Bangalore.
- IB-only pathway from primary to Diploma: Indus International School Bangalore.
Everywhere else is dual-pathway, or runs IB Diploma at sixth form on top of a non-IB middle school. The hybrid is fine for most expat families; for an unbroken IB philosophy from kindergarten, the three above are the shortlist. PYP and MYP quality varies sharply by implementation. Authorisation is a floor. Visit, watch a primary classroom, look at the actual inquiry units, and ask how MYP assessment is moderated internally before a PYP or MYP badge does the deciding.

Fees are indicative annual day-school ranges from each school's most recent published structure. USD converted at indicative 2026 rates around INR 83.5 = USD 1. Capital fees, annual escalators, deposits and transport are extra. Verify current figures with each school.
The four IB programmes
The International Baccalaureate runs four programmes: PYP (3 to 12), MYP (11 to 16), DP (16 to 19) and CP (16 to 19). Most Bangalore schools on this list are authorised for DP only, sometimes layered over a Cambridge or ICSE middle school. Full continuum (PYP through DP) narrows the field to Stonehill, Oakridge and Indus. Only Stonehill adds the CP.
The Diploma is the externally visible signal. Six subjects, three Higher Level and three Standard Level, plus the core of Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. Graded out of 45 points, with 24 the minimum pass. The 2024 global DP average was 30.32, pass rate around 80%. Top Bangalore IB schools land 32 to 37; the highest individual scores in any given year hit 44 or 45.
Structural workload is higher than A-Levels and narrowing comes later. Strong Bangalore IB schools manage that workload through cohort size, faculty experience and a coherent middle-school feeder. Weaker ones turn it into compliance noise.
PYP and MYP execution varies more than DP execution. The Diploma is externally examined and globally standardised. PYP and MYP are largely school-assessed and inquiry-based, so underlying teaching capability is the variable that matters.
How to choose between them
Which side of the city? East (Sarjapur, Whitefield): Indus, Oakridge, Greenwood, TISB. North (Yelahanka, Sahakar Nagar, Hennur, Tarahunise): Stonehill, Canadian International, Trio, Bangalore International. South (Electronic City, Bommasandra): Candor, Ebenezer, Treamis. Bangalore traffic decides more school choices than any other factor.
Premium or mid-tier? Premium (INR 10 lakh plus at senior years): Stonehill, Indus, TISB, Canadian International, Oakridge top end, Neev. Mid-tier (INR 3 to 9 lakh): Greenwood, Trio, Candor, Ebenezer, Bangalore International, Treamis.
Published results or brand trust? Schools publishing DP cohort averages: Stonehill, Oakridge, Neev. Schools publishing destinations and individual scorers but not averages: TISB, Indus. Where averages are missing, ask for the last three years of cohort averages, pass rates and the number of students who sat the DP. A school that cannot answer those three questions in writing has told you something.
Pure IB or IB inside a CBSE or ICSE school? Stonehill and Indus are closest to a pure IB experience. Greenwood, Treamis and Ebenezer run meaningful Indian-board streams alongside. The quality of the IB stream then depends on dedicated IB faculty rather than rotation across boards, and a cohort large enough to sustain a real DP offer at sixth form.

FAQs
Which Bangalore school has the highest published IB DP average?
On the most recent published figures, Oakridge International School Bangalore at 34.07 (2022) sits at the top, with Canadian International Bangalore historically at around 34 and Stonehill at 32.2 (2024) and 33.5 (2023). TISB produced multiple 45, 44 and 43 scorers in 2025 but does not publish a cohort average, so it is the strongest on individual top scores rather than on a comparable average.
What is a strong IB DP score in Bangalore?
The 2024 global DP average was 30.32, pass rate around 80%. A strong Bangalore IB school produces a cohort average of 32 to 37 and a pass rate at or above the global figure. Individual scores above 40 are uncommon anywhere; Bangalore's top schools produce a handful most years.
Which Bangalore schools offer the full PYP-MYP-DP continuum?
Three: Stonehill International School (which also adds the CP), Oakridge International School Bangalore and Treamis World School (with a smaller IB stream inside a larger CBSE operation). Indus International School Bangalore runs an IB-only pathway from primary to DP.
Are Bangalore IB schools cheaper than IB schools elsewhere?
Materially. The top of the Bangalore IB market sits around INR 12 to 13 lakh (roughly USD 14,000 to 15,000) for senior years. The equivalent IB Diploma place in Singapore, Hong Kong, Dubai or London costs two to four times that. Mid-tier Bangalore IB schools run INR 3 to 9 lakh (~USD 3,600 to 11,000), a fee bracket that no longer exists for credible IB schools in most other Asian or Gulf cities.
IB Diploma or Cambridge A-Levels in Bangalore?
Depends on school and child. IB Diploma is far more widely available, with twelve schools authorised. Cambridge A-Levels are thinner; Inventure Academy and Mallya Aditi are the clearest pure-Cambridge sixth-form choices. Several schools, including TISB, Greenwood, Canadian International and Candor, offer both routes and let families choose later.
Does Bangalore have any IB Career-related Programme (CP) schools?
One. Stonehill International School is currently the only Bangalore school authorised for the CP alongside PYP, MYP and DP.
