A small Montessori plus Cambridge school for ages 3 to 12, with campuses in Tokyo's Chuo ward and Shin-Urayasu in Chiba.

Chuo runs a Montessori-based early years programme that transitions into the Cambridge Primary curriculum, framed by the school as a Montessori+ approach. The student body is small and the head, Shazia Kitahara, is also the founder, which gives the place a hands-on feel parents notice quickly. Families looking for child-led learning with a more structured academic spine through the upper primary years tend to be the fit here.

Two practical considerations shape the choice. The school stops at grade 6, so families need a plan for secondary, and many move on to the larger IB or Cambridge schools across Tokyo. The Shin-Urayasu campus sits closer to Disney than to central Tokyo, useful for families on the east side of the metro. Tuition is mid-market for Tokyo international schools.
