A'Takamul International School

A Kuwaiti-owned American-curriculum school in Sabah Al Salem, designed to combine US-style schooling with Islamic and Kuwaiti tradition.

ATIS opened in 1995 and moved to its current Sabah Al Salem campus in 2003, where it now hosts close to 2,000 students from KG through Grade 12. The school operates under Kuwait's Ministry of Private Education and is accredited by the North Central Association (Cognia). The curriculum is American with English as the medium of instruction, alongside the Kuwaiti Ministry's Arabic, Islamic Studies and Social Studies programme.

Families value the bilingual, faith-rooted environment and the supportive parent community. The harder-edged criticism that recurs across teacher and parent voices points at governance: a board with limited educational background, decisions driven by cost over quality, and high turnover at senior levels. Departing teachers have filed lawsuits over end-of-contract settlements.
