A small American-curriculum school in Hawalli with deep roots in special-needs education. Originally Fawzia Sultan International School in 1993, the first Middle East school dedicated to learning differences, rebranded and reopened as Al-Bayan International School in fall 2017.

BIS sits on Beirut Street behind Dar Al-Shifa Hospital and runs KG to Grade 12 on an American curriculum. The school is a non-profit operated by FAWSEC Educational Company. Roughly 800 students. Fees run from KWD 2,434 in early years to KWD 5,273 in high school. CIS-accredited. Head is Kevin Fullbrook.

BIS sits in the shadow of larger American schools and is the smaller, quieter option. The legacy as Fawzia Sultan means a stronger inclusion track, and the school is associated with families who want learning support taken seriously. Easy to confuse with Al-Bayan Bilingual School (BBS), an older, larger, unrelated bilingual institution on the same Beirut Street. Best fit for families wanting a small American-curriculum school with a real history of supporting learning differences.
