In brief
A Christian IB candidate school in Puri Indah, West Jakarta, run by the Pelita Harapan foundation and now expanding with a second campus in PIK 2.
Hope Academy opened in 2019 under YPPH, the Pelita Harapan education foundation, and uses the IB PYP across preschool, kindergarten and primary up to Grade 6. The campus is built around a multi-storey vertical layout, branded as a school in the sky, with around 12,000 square metres of building space and 6,000 square metres of outdoor area. A second site at PIK 2 broke ground in 2023 and opened for the 2025 to 2026 academic year.
The character is explicitly Christian: morning devotions, weekly chapel, biblical studies inside the academic week. Parent voice points to genuine project-based learning, good teacher mix from new graduates to thirty-year veterans, and an inclusive programme with limited places. Mandarin sits as a weekly slot. Fees are above average for the West Jakarta market, and families typically choose Hope when the faith framing is the draw rather than a backdrop.
Reviews
- Hope Academy, also branded Hope Intercultural School, opened in 2019 in Puri Indah, West Jakarta as part of Yayasan Pendidikan Pelita Harapan, the same Christian foundation behind Sekolah Pelita Harapan and Sekolah Dian Harapan.
- The school is fully authorised for the IB Primary Years Programme and is in candidacy for MYP and DP. Reviewers describe project-based, inquiry-led delivery with a Mandarin lesson per week and morning devotion as standing features.
- Independent parent reviews are very limited. The International Schools Database carries no parent reviews. The most-cited consumer review is a TikTok walkthrough by an Indonesian parent-influencer who ranks it among the most in-demand new IB schools in West Jakarta and treats fees as worth the curriculum and facilities.
- Fees sit in the mid-tier SPK band, around IDR 39 to 90 million per year for Pre-Kindy through Grade 6 plus a development fee of around IDR 103 million for six years.
- Reddit, expat-forum and Mumsnet signal on the school specifically is effectively absent. The wider YPPH group is well discussed, but parents do not consistently distinguish Hope Academy from SPH or Sekolah Dian Harapan.
- A North campus in PIK 2 was under construction for a 2025 to 2026 opening, so families considering Hope Academy will see a multi-site network rather than the single Puri Indah campus.
