  • Established Riyadh international school, founded 2005, organised across three campuses in central Riyadh. One of a small number of schools in the city offering all three IB programmes (PYP, MYP and Diploma). CIS-accredited, with English-medium instruction alongside Arabic and Islamic studies covering around 20% of the curriculum.
  • Aggregate signal and parent commentary position ALS as a credible IB option in Riyadh. One parent described it as "a great option," with another noting an American curriculum integrated with the IB programme. New campus came online 2022-23.
  • Workload is heavy. High-school students face roughly two hours of homework on top of a 7:10am to 3:45pm school day, on a co-ed model that becomes single-sex from Grade 4 onwards.
  • Parent voice is genuinely thin. One review from a teacher, not a parent, gives top marks across the board. No published parent ratings are available.
  • Student culture draws mixed comment, including a critical student post about cliques and teaching style, set against generally positive staff and parent commentary.

Positives

  • IB curriculum and accreditation. All three IB programmes (PYP, MYP, DP); CIS-accredited; established 2005
  • Reputation in Riyadh. Reddit commenters point to ALS as a credible Riyadh IB option; new campus opened 2022-23

Considerations

  • Workload and timetable. Approximately two hours of homework on top of a 7:10am to 3:45pm school day; co-ed only through Grade 3
  • Parent voice signal. Single ISD review from a teacher (5/5); WSA carries no parent ratings; review pool genuinely thin
  • Student culture. Some critical aggregator commentary on cliques and self-directed teaching; worth asking school directly
