Families relocating from Arabic-speaking countries or wanting their children to develop strong Arabic alongside internationally recognised qualifications will find it hard to find a comparable option in Muscat.

The Sultan's School sits in a category of its own in Muscat: it is bilingual, teaching in both English and Arabic, with IGCSE, and IB Diploma sitting alongside Omani national curriculum components. It was established in the 1970s and originally served primarily Omani students - the IB Diploma and IGCSE programmes were introduced more recently as the school moved toward an internationally recognised framework. The Al Seeb campus is to the west of Muscat, near the Seeb area where many Omani families and some international families are based. The school draws students from a wide range of backgrounds and nationalities, though the community has a stronger locally-rooted character than schools like ABA or TAISM.

Fees for 2025-2026 run from OMR 2,666 in KG1 to OMR 5,692 in the IB Diploma years - significantly below BSM's senior fees and comparable to or below AGS across most year groups. One-time entry costs include a registration fee (OMR 300), advance fee (OMR 500), and materials deposit (OMR 200). Sibling discounts of OMR 100 apply from Year 1 upward. Independent parent commentary is limited; a teacher review on one platform described it as a learning community built on trust and integrity. ISR teacher reviews from earlier years noted concerns about management that we cannot corroborate or date with confidence, so we flag them as worth exploring on a visit rather than as findings.

The bilingual model is the school's clearest differentiator, but it is also the main consideration for families who specifically want an English-medium environment. The Arabic instruction strand is substantive, not a token add-on. Families who want their children to operate comfortably in Arabic as well as English will find the model valuable; families who are relocating short-term and need a seamless English-medium pathway may find BSM or ABA a more straightforward fit. Ask about the IB Diploma cohort size and university placement outcomes, which we could not independently verify.
