Founded in 1977 under the personal sponsorship of Sultan Qaboos, this is Oman's flagship bilingual Arabic-English school, taking around 1,300 students from KG to Year 13 and offering the full IB Diploma at the senior end.

The bilingual model is genuine rather than cosmetic. Arabic Language, Islamic Education and Social Studies are taught in Arabic. English Language, Mathematics and the Sciences are taught in English. For Omani families who want their children fluent in both languages and ready for international universities, and for expat families committed to a deep Arabic immersion, there is no other school in Oman that does this at this scale.

CIS-accredited, IB DP at the top end, and a strong reputation for university placement. Fees of around OMR 2,666 to 5,692 are remarkable given the heritage and outcomes, and reflect the school's Royal-foundation and trust structure rather than commercial economics. Demand is high and admission is competitive. Families should expect a culturally Omani school first and an international school second, which is the entire point.

  • The small review pool is consistently positive, with comments describing a strong community, kind teachers, and high-quality education.
  • Staff reviews also lean positive on work-life balance and the overall school environment, though one teacher notes limited curriculum freedom and the trade-off of living on campus.
  • The public parent signal is too small for firm conclusions, but there is no clear negative pattern in the sources found.

Positives

  • Community. Short reviews and one longer school-directory review describe a tolerant, close school community.
  • Teaching and academics. Review comments praise teachers, learning, and education quality, though most comments are brief.

Considerations

  • Staff perspective. Employee reviews are broadly positive but mention limits around curriculum freedom and campus living.
