In Brief

Faith Academy is worth considering if you're an evangelical Christian family, if you need boarding for older children, or if you're posted east of the city in the Rizal corridor. The American curriculum is solid and the fees are among the most accessible in Manila's international school market - but the faith identity is woven through school life, not just on the label.

Faith Academy sits in Cainta, Rizal - on the eastern edge of Metro Manila, about 20-30 minutes from BGC when traffic is moving and significantly longer when it isn't. The school runs an American curriculum with Advanced Placement courses from Grade 9 upwards, serves around 600 students from 20+ nationalities, and employs a teaching staff that is around 90% international - a higher ratio than most Manila international schools. ACSI accreditation is current. The school also has a Korean Studies strand within the curriculum, reflecting the significant Korean community in the student body.

The boarding option is one of Faith Academy's genuine differentiating features in the Manila market - very few international schools in the region offer residential places, and Faith has been running boarding since its founding as a school for missionary families. From Grade 7 upwards, students can board in the school's residential houses, which run with around 12-20 students each. The campus itself is substantial: two pools, a large auditorium, extensive sports facilities, and a library holding 46,000+ volumes. Families who've come from boarding school backgrounds elsewhere often find the setup familiar.

The faith identity is the key factor to assess honestly. Faith Academy was founded to serve missionary families and has an evangelical Christian ethos that runs through assemblies, chapel, pastoral care, and the broader school culture. Families of other backgrounds are welcome to apply, and many non-missionary families attend, but the school does not moderate its faith character to be broadly neutral. If that ethos aligns with your family's values, Faith Academy offers a well-resourced American-curriculum education at fees well below what ISM or NAIS charge. If it doesn't, the academic offer is strong enough that it's still worth asking the school directly how families from different backgrounds experience school life.

What parents value
  • Boarding from Grade 7 is available - one of the only international schools in Metro Manila's orbit to offer this. Practical for families posted across the Philippines or with older children needing stability during a posting.
  • Fees are among the most accessible for a full international curriculum in Manila: PHP 998K for Elementary, PHP 1.13M for High School (including facility fee) - meaningfully lower than ISM, NAIS, or BSM at the same levels.
  • 90% international teaching staff with ACSI accreditation. AP courses from Grade 9, Korean Studies strand available, and a large campus (two pools, auditorium, 46,000-volume library) in Cainta.
Points of consideration
  • The evangelical Christian ethos is central to daily school life - chapel, assemblies, and pastoral care all reflect this. Assess honestly whether it's the right fit before applying, rather than assuming it runs lightly in the background.
  • Cainta, Rizal sits east of the city. If you're in BGC or Makati, allow 30-45 minutes each way on a good day, and longer during peak hours. The commute is manageable for families living in the Rizal corridor or east of the Ortigas area, but it's worth testing before committing.
  • Faith Academy's university placement data skews towards North American institutions. If your long-term plan involves UK or European university entry, check current results and ask whether IGCSE or other qualifications are available alongside AP.
