RAS is the go-to for families who need an accredited American curriculum in JB, particularly those targeting US or Canadian universities. The community is small and the fees are mid-range for Iskandar Puteri.

Raffles American School is the only WASC-accredited American school in Johor, which matters if you're on a posting from a US company or your children need continuity with the American system. AP and IB Diploma both run from the same Iskandar Puteri campus, and the school covers Pre-K through Grade 12. Boarding is available for older students if proximity to Singapore is a draw.

Families who've been here a while describe caring, accessible teachers and a campus that punches above its enrolment size - an air-conditioned gymnasium, a baseball field and a private planetarium all feature, which is unusual for a school of roughly 600 students. The university placement record into global top-100 institutions is cited by current families as a genuine selling point. Meals are included in tuition, which simplifies the total cost calculation.

The main trade-off is scale. With around 600 students across 15 year groups, class sizes and peer variety are narrower than at MCM or a large British school. At Grade 12 in particular, cohort sizes can be small. The one-time registration fee of MYR 15,000 per family sits on top of annual tuition, so factor that into year-one costs.
