In Brief
Spring Hills is the only campus in JB offering both A-Levels and the IB Diploma alongside IGCSE - and the 20-acre campus with Olympic-sized pool is hard to argue with. At the upper end of the JB fee range, it suits corporate-package families or those specifically wanting the IBDP option east of the city.
Invictus International School Spring Hills occupies a 20-acre campus in Bandar Seri Alam, Masai - the former home of Repton International School, which itself rebranded from Excelsior International School in 2020 before joining the Invictus group. The Invictus brand was established in Singapore and now operates multiple campuses across Johor; the Spring Hills campus runs the Cambridge British curriculum from Nursery through to A-Levels, with the IB Diploma Programme available at Sixth Form - one of the few schools in JB to offer both qualification routes for older students. FOBISIA membership places it in the same accreditation tier as the better-known JB schools.
The facilities are the clearest selling point. An Olympic-sized swimming pool, tennis courts, a full-size soccer field, running tracks, art and drama studios, an auditorium, and well-equipped IT, science and multimedia labs are on a campus that physically cannot be replicated on a standard urban school site. Families with children who swim competitively or participate in team sports at a serious level will find the infrastructure supports that. The dual A-Level and IBDP pathway at Sixth Form gives families flexibility - students can choose their qualification route later in secondary school rather than committing at Year 7.
The main context to hold is brand history. The campus has cycled through three identities in six years - Excelsior, Repton, and now Invictus. Each rebrand has brought changes to leadership, culture and curriculum framing. Families who valued the Repton brand's direct connection to the UK school founded in 1557 will find that heritage does not carry forward in the same way under Invictus. That said, the campus infrastructure and FOBISIA membership are constants. Visit to assess how settled the current staff are and what the IGCSE and A-Level results look like under the Invictus identity.
What parents value
- –Only school in JB offering both IB Diploma and A-Level at Sixth Form alongside IGCSE - maximum flexibility for families uncertain about which qualification route suits their child.
- –20-acre campus with Olympic-sized pool, full-size soccer field, running tracks, auditorium, and dedicated arts and science facilities. FOBISIA member.
- –Eastern JB location in Bandar Seri Alam suits families in Masai, Pasir Gudang and the eastern corridor. Direct competition with Invictus Horizon Hills but distinct campus character.
Points of consideration
- –Three rebrands in six years (Excelsior to Repton to Invictus) mean the school's institutional identity is relatively recent. Ask for IGCSE and A-Level results data from the most recent exam cycle and verify staff continuity with the admissions team.
- –Fees at the upper end of the JB market - MYR 29,500 at EYFS rising to MYR 73,500 for IBDP - are comparable to established Singapore international schools. Confirm the full current fee schedule directly with the school, as fees may have been updated post-rebrand.
