ISA Liwan is the newest and most ambitious campus in Guangzhou's international school market, with the broadest curriculum offer of any school in this guide. The central Liwan location is genuinely rare - most international schools are in the suburbs. It is too new to have a track record, so visit and ask hard questions about teaching quality before committing at these fee levels.

ISA Liwan opened in 2022 with a USD 180 million campus investment that gives it facilities comparable to the best in the city: an 800-seat auditorium, swimming pool, fencing hall, black box theatre, science labs, and arts spaces. The school is part of the same ISA International Education Group that runs ISA Science City, so the brand and operational infrastructure are established even if this particular campus is new. IB authorisation was granted in June 2024, completing a curriculum offer that includes IB PYP/MYP/DP, A-Level, AP, HKDSE, and a Japanese programme - the widest range of exit qualifications available at any single international school in Guangzhou.

The Liwan location in central Guangzhou is a genuine differentiator. All other international schools in this guide are in the suburbs - Baiyun, Huangpu, Panyu, Huadu, or Zengcheng. Liwan puts the school within 20 to 30 minutes of Tianhe and Yuexiu, which means families living in or near central Guangzhou can consider day schooling without the long commutes that other schools require. Boarding is available for primary, middle, and high school students, making it also viable for boarders from outside the city.

The school is three years old and IB-authorised for less than two years at the point of this review. There are no published IB Diploma cohort results, no parent survey data, and limited third-party commentary. The fees - CNY 208,000 to CNY 308,000 per year - place it at the top of the Guangzhou market, broadly comparable to AISG and ISASC. At that price point, the absence of a track record is the primary risk factor. The investment in physical infrastructure is visible; the quality of what happens inside the classrooms is what you need to assess at the admissions visit.
