In brief
A bilingual British-style school in Songjiang aimed primarily at Chinese national families on a UK university track, blending the Adcote (UK) brand with a localised IGCSE and A Level programme.
Adcote Shanghai opened in September 2018 as the first overseas branch of Adcote School in Shropshire, on a 30-mu campus at the foot of Sheshan Mountain in Songjiang. The school runs IGCSE and A Levels alongside elements of the Chinese national curriculum, with English, Chinese and French taught from primary. Most of the roll are Chinese passport holders rather than expat families, and the operator quotes a 1:7 staff to student ratio with a strong cohort of Oxbridge and Russell Group teaching graduates.
Parent voice is thin and largely positive on the academic core, with families praising the IGCSE results in STEM and the campus environment. The school does not sit in the same conversation as Concordia, SAS or Dulwich for expat families looking at a US or IB track. Expats considering Songjiang typically weigh Adcote against Wycombe Abbey Changzhou and the local British-curriculum bilingual schools.
