Founded
2015

A small family-run, non-profit British-curriculum primary in Boeung Tumpun, south of central Phnom Penh, taking children from age 2 to around 11.

Brighton sits at the affordable end of the British-curriculum bracket in Phnom Penh, with fees that local sources put around USD 2,200 to 3,600 a year. The programme leans heavily on early phonics, English literacy and primary maths, with the Cambodian MoEYS curriculum running alongside for Khmer pupils. Extracurriculars cover the usual ground of sport, robotics, chess and drama.

The school stops at primary, so families with older children need a plan for secondary. What signal there is from parents skews positive on the warmth of the staff and how settled younger children become; the Facebook recommend rate sits in the mid-eighties on a small base of reviews. Best read as a kind, neighbourhood-feel option for early years and primary rather than a full pathway school.

  • Almost no independent parent or teacher discussion of Brighton International School Phnom Penh surfaces online. The school describes itself as a family-run, not-for-profit primary teaching the British and Khmer curricula.
  • The single review on a schools-database site is a maximum-rating parent review from 2023 calling the school quality and affordable.
  • The school's own Facebook page reports 86 percent of visitors recommend it from 10 ratings; this is a marketing channel rather than independent commentary.
  • Reddit, Mumsnet and international-teacher forums carry no substantive discussion of the school.

Thank you for visiting our website and taking one of the many steps towards getting to know Brighton International School (BIS). BIS started in 2015 to provide a holistic, fun-filled, child-centred, international education that is contextualised within our local and regional settings. Our close-knit team constantly strives to deliver a quality education using time-tested pedagogical strategies and a curriculum designed to foster individualised learning, and developmental and social needs. We take pride in having created an environment that supports and promotes the growth of engaged and confident learners with a mind to explore the unknown. Over the years we have seen pivotal success in our students’ academic performances, particularly in achieving higher levels of English Language and Literacy. At the forefront of our success lies our intensive phonics programme aimed at securing a firm foundation for our student’s reading and spelling abilities. Our Math program has also developed to support our students in making sense of numbers, patterns and shapes and how to handle and interpret data. Overall, with a strong English and Math foundation, our students can grow in our other subjects and become better critical thinkers. We are incredibly grateful for the efforts of our hardworking and passionate faculty and the consistent support from our parents and guardians. By maintaining regular, constructive, communication, we are confident we will continue to help our students reach new heights and take greater leaps in becoming well-rounded, global citizens. May we continue to work hand-in-hand in order to cultivate a more compassionate and greater generation than the last. I wish you all the best and hope that this website can provide you with an adequate glimpse of what Brighton International School has to offer. Please feel free to drop by our office anytime during our working hours (Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm) or contact us should you have any queries. I look forward to meeting you.
