A bilingual IB World School in central Muscat, established in 2012, running PYP and MYP for ages 3 to 16 with a strong Arabic and sustainability thread.

OurPlanet is one of the few IB schools in Oman that actively positions Arabic and Omani identity as central rather than as a Ministry-mandated add-on. For Arabic-speaking families and for expats who want their children to leave Muscat with real Arabic, that is a meaningful point of difference.

The school stops at MYP, so families need a plan for the senior years. Parents praise the IB ethos and the staff. Older critical voices flagged campus and facility gaps relative to the fees, and some questioned the depth of specialist teaching. The current campus and team have moved on from those reviews, but families touring the school should still ask about specialist provision, the Arabic programme in practice, and where graduating Year 10 students typically transfer for IB DP or IGCSE.

  • OurPlanet is a small IB school in Muscat, opened in 2012 and authorised for PYP and MYP, taking children from age three to sixteen.
  • Parents who like it praise the IB ethos and the teaching, with one parent saying they love the ethos, the staff and the IB curriculum and so do their children. Others highlight the strong Arabic strand alongside the IB programme.
  • A 2025 Reddit comment from a parent said the school is good and worth it for their two children, while flagging it as a little expensive.
  • Critical reviews focus on facilities and value for money, with parents pointing out the lack of pool and gym and questioning whether some teaching staff are appropriately qualified for their roles.
  • Several reviews say management does not listen to parents, with the PYP coordinator named specifically as a sticking point.

Positives

  • Curriculum and language. IB PYP and MYP with a distinctive Arabic strand is the strongest positive across reviews.

Considerations

  • Teaching quality. Parents praise individual teachers but flag concerns about the qualifications of some staff in specific roles.
  • Facilities and fees. Recurring complaint that fees are high relative to a campus that lacks pool and gym facilities.
  • Management responsiveness. Parents say leadership, including the PYP coordinator, does not listen to parent input.
