Ellesmere Muscat is a co-educational IB Continuum K-12 school in Al Khoudh, founded in 2012 as Alruwad International School and rebranded in 2023 after partnering with Ellesmere College UK. Around 600 to 800 students from age 3 to 18 running PYP, MYP and Diploma.

It claims to be the first Omani-founded IB Continuum school in Muscat. Fees run roughly OMR 2,000 to OMR 4,900 a year, sitting well below the British name-brand schools in the city. The Ellesmere College UK link is a partnership rather than franchise ownership, so day-to-day operation remains Omani.

Parents praise the IB approach and credit the school with shaping confident, independent learners through the Diploma. Teachers come up positively in family accounts, particularly in foundation years. Best fit for families who want a full IB pathway in Muscat at a more affordable price point than the British market leaders, and who value the IB philosophy over a UK brand connection.

  • Seeb school operating since 2012 as Alruwad International School; rebranded to Ellesmere Muscat from 2023 under a partnership with Ellesmere College UK.
  • Full IB Continuum (PYP, MYP, DP) co-ed, early years to grade 12.
  • Parent reviews are short and consistently positive on the IB programme, staff dedication and the foundation-stage experience. Pool is small.
  • No parent or community signal surfaced for the school under either name.
  • A real factor that the Ellesmere brand is a recent overlay on the older Alruwad school; quality reflects the campus, not the UK partner.

Positives

  • IB Continuum delivery. Parent reviews credit the IB curriculum with strong child progression and dedicated staff.
  • Foundation stage. Parents value the early-years environment and what they describe as character and self-reliance focus.

Considerations

  • Brand and continuity. School ran for over a decade as Alruwad before the Ellesmere College UK partnership; staff and operations carry over from the earlier identity.
