Downe House Muscat opened in September 2022 as the first all-girls British school in Oman, operated by Cognita with brand and curriculum partnership from Downe House UK. A purpose-built Al Bandar campus offering full boarding, flexi boarding and day options.

The campus runs across four interconnected buildings with a Performing Arts Centre and theatre, STEM Centre, Art and Design Centre and Sports Academy. Fees run roughly OMR 3,470 to OMR 7,500 a year. From August 2025 the school adds KG1 and KG2 in a co-educational early years setup, with girls only from there. Founding Headmistress Helen Booth-Smith leads the school after the founding head Michelle Scott who came directly from Downe House UK.

Early parent feedback describes a strong IGCSE preparation, a warm welcoming environment, and rapid settling for girls transferring in. Discipline and academic focus come up repeatedly as positives. The signal base is small given the school has only been open since 2022. Best fit for families who specifically want all-girls British schooling in Muscat with a UK-brand pedigree and modern boarding options.

  • Opened in September 2022 as the first premium British all-girls school in Oman, on a purpose-built campus in Al Bandar west of Muscat. From August 2025 it adds co-educational pre-school and reception classes.
  • Parent voices online are uniformly positive but shallow. Recurring themes are small classes, dedicated staff and a focused, disciplined girls-only environment. One parent said the daughter "enjoys the small class sizes and the personal attention she receives". Another cited a "beautiful campus, supportive staff, and a focused environment for girls' education".
  • The British curriculum and IGCSE preparation are flagged as strengths, with parents describing the academic delivery as clear and structured.
  • The most concrete criticism is narrow: one parent wanted more variety in after-school activities.
  • No Reddit, Mumsnet or TalesMag signal. Aggregator reviews skew short and uniformly positive, treated as low-weight; the school is too new for an inspection-led picture.
