In brief
The French international school of Mumbai, AEFE-accredited, running the full French national curriculum from pre-K to baccalaureate on a Lower Parel campus.
LFIM opened in 1983 in Breach Candy and moved to a purpose-built Lower Parel campus in 2019. The school sits in the AEFE network of more than 550 French schools worldwide, which means a French family relocating to or from Paris, Singapore, Dubai or anywhere else on the network keeps full curriculum continuity.
Instruction is principally in French, with English running 50/50 from pre-K through grade 5 and stepping up through middle school. Around twenty-four nationalities are on roll, but the core community is French-speaking expat families, often on three to five-year postings. Families considering LFIM where neither parent speaks French should think carefully: integration works best when at least one parent can engage with the school in French, and the curriculum assumes near-native fluency by upper primary.
Head of school
Eric Petros
Eric Petros serves as Principal of Lycee Francais International de Mumbai. He leads an institution belonging to the AEFE network of 600 schools across 138 countries. Under his direction, the school offers bilingual French-English education from preschool through high school, with plans to expand offerings including the French International Baccalaureate. Petros emphasizes the school's commitment to welcoming students of all nationalities and fostering a multilingual, multicultural educational environment in Mumbai's Lower Parel district.
