DSB International School

The oldest international school in Mumbai, German-rooted, now a small bilingual school running both the German national curriculum and the British/IB pathway across two south Mumbai campuses.

Founded in 1961 as Deutsche Schule Bombay for German expat families, DSB now splits roughly half-and-half between Indian and international passport holders, with families from twenty-five-plus nationalities. The Garden Campus at Cumballa Hill takes nursery through middle years; the Euro Campus at Lower Parel runs grades 9 to 12.

Class sizes sit under fifteen, and parents talk about the school as small, warm and easy to integrate into when you land in Mumbai mid-year. Families on the German posting circuit value the option of staying in the German stream so a return home is not a curriculum reset. Other expat families take the British and IB Diploma route on the same campus. The community feels small by Mumbai international standards, which works well for some and feels limiting for others wanting bigger sport or peer networks.
