If your child needs a US high school diploma in Taipei with a Christian environment and small classes, and you're based in or near Shilin, Primacy is a practical and affordable alternative to TAS. Don't come expecting TAS-level facilities or AP breadth - but do expect personal attention and a genuine community.

Primacy occupies a specific niche in Taipei's international school market: a Christian American high school for Grades 9-12 only, with Cognia accreditation and NCAA recognition, offering a US diploma in a deliberately small setting. About 130 students attend, and the school's stated philosophy is individual attention - tracking each student toward university admission and character development under its four pillars of Develop Wisdom, Live Healthfully, Care for Others, and Know God. The campus is a 5-minute walk from Shilin MRT station, which makes it one of the most accessible international schools in the city.

Eight AP courses are on offer for 2025-26 - Biology, Calculus AB, Physics 1, Computer Science A, English Language, Macroeconomics, Pre-Calculus, and Chinese Language. That's a reasonable range for a school this size, covering the core tracks most students need. The university counselling service is built into tuition, and the school claims a strong record of overseas university placement. Families with children here mention the easy commute and the warm atmosphere, and the Christian community element is taken seriously without being the only thing the school is about.

The AP offering is narrower than at TAS or DIS - 8 subjects versus 18 at DIS. If your child has specific academic interests outside the core sciences and humanities listed, ask exactly which courses are running before enrolling. Primacy is a high school only - it does not offer elementary or middle school, so families with younger children will need a separate solution for those years.
