In Brief

Avenues is Sao Paulo's most expensive international school and the one families choose when they want a genuinely bilingual, project-based education and price is a secondary concern. If your child is already comfortably bilingual and you want academic rigour alongside creativity, it delivers.

Avenues opened in 2018 as the second campus of a New York-based school network, and it brought something Sao Paulo's international market had not seen: a fully integrated American and Brazilian dual curriculum where English and Portuguese carry equal weight throughout the school day. The 40,000 m2 campus in Jardim Panorama is purpose-built, and the tuition covers books, lunch, field trips, and sports kits - no additional levies or building funds.

The school now has over 1,200 students and has joined the Nord Anglia group while retaining its own academic identity and its cross-campus collaboration with Avenues New York and Shenzhen. Head of school Anne Baldisseri has been in post since the campus opened and brings continuity. The interdisciplinary project approach works well for students who engage with a hands-on style; families with children who thrive on structured, exam-focused teaching sometimes find the model requires more adjustment than they expected.

At R$117,500-R$198,000 per year, Avenues is a significant step above Graded and the most expensive option in this guide. The location in Jardim Panorama - adjacent to Morumbi and Real Parque - works well for families in the south and west zones but is a real commute from Pinheiros or the Paulista corridor. A thread on teacher forums from late 2024 noted the school was not universally regarded as an easy place to work; we could not verify specifics and note it as something worth exploring with current families.

What parents value
  • Fully inclusive tuition - books, meals, field trips, sports uniforms, technology. No building funds or annual levies. Useful for families managing complex relocation budgets.
  • Genuine bilingual dual curriculum from age 1.5. Students graduate with strong academic Portuguese alongside English, which is a meaningful advantage for families planning to stay in Brazil long term.
  • Need-based financial aid from Small World through Grade 12, which is rare among premium international schools in Sao Paulo.
Points of consideration
  • R$198,000/year for Grades 1-12 makes Avenues the most expensive school in this guide. Self-funding families should model the full cost over multiple years before committing.
  • The integrated project-based model is different from standard American or British curriculum schooling. Families moving from a traditional exam-focused system should visit and talk to current parents before deciding.
