In Brief

If you want a British school in Prague 8 with genuine small class sizes, Cambridge qualifications through to A-Levels, and fees below PBIS and Riverside, PHBS is worth a serious look - but visit first and ask specifically about how the Perrott Hill rebrand has played out in practice.

Formerly Meridian International School, Prague's longest-running British school in the north of the city (founded 2004), PHBS rebranded under the Perrott Hill Education group in 2025. The core offer hasn't changed: Cambridge (CAIE) curriculum from Reception through to A-Levels in Year 13, British School Overseas certification from the UK Department for Education, and three campuses in Prague 8 Kobylisy. The claim to uniqueness is A-Levels: PHBS says it is the only Prague international school offering UK A-Levels at Post-16, which is relevant if your family is heading to UK universities. Over 500 students from 60 nationalities.

Small class sizes are a genuine structural feature - maximum 12 in Reception, 16 in Year 1, and 18 from Year 2 upward. Fees for 2026/27 run CZK 270,000 for Reception half-day up to CZK 635,000 for Year 11-13, with a 5% discount for annual payment. That puts PHBS below PBIS and roughly in line with Riverside at comparable year groups. Parent reviews since the rebrand are broadly positive about teacher quality and pastoral care; one long-standing student noted the school has become more structured and organised, though less relaxed in atmosphere than it was as Meridian.

The three-campus model across Prague 8 is the main practical consideration. All campuses are in the Kobylisy area, so the geography is tighter than some multi-campus schools, but it still means logistics if you have children at different stages. The Perrott Hill rebrand is recent - the group was established to raise standards and add resources, but it's worth asking at open day what specifically has changed since 2025 and what the longer-term plans for the campus estate look like.

What parents value
  • Only Prague international school offering UK A-Levels at Post-16. Cambridge CAIE accredited; BSO certified by the UK DfE. Founded 2004, 500+ students from 60 nationalities.
  • Small class sizes (max 12 in Reception, 18 from Year 2). Fees below PBIS at comparable year groups; 5% discount for annual payment.
  • Parent reviews highlight supportive teachers and improved organisation since the Perrott Hill transition. Prague 8 Kobylisy location - less central than some schools but all three campuses are in the same district.
Points of consideration
  • Three campuses in Prague 8 - ask at open day how transitions between sites work for families with children at different stages.
  • The Perrott Hill rebrand is recent (2025). Worth probing what has actually changed in practice and what the group's long-term investment plans are for the Prague campuses.
  • No published IGCSE or A-Level grade distributions on the school website - ask the admissions team for recent results and university placement data.
