If you're convinced by the Montessori method and want authentic AMS-accredited delivery in Prague, IMSP is the only place that offers it for toddlers through to age 12 - but it's a small, specialist school, not a full K-12 solution.

IMSP is Prague's only school accredited by the American Montessori Society, which matters because 'Montessori' is not a protected term and quality varies widely. The school has operated since 2002 on a campus near a forest in Prague 4 Chodov, with around 100 students across toddler, primary and elementary programmes. English is the medium of instruction throughout; the Czech Ministry of Education recognises the curriculum, which means graduates can transition into Czech gymnazia without additional steps. The Montessori method is applied authentically: mixed-age classrooms, child-led learning within structured environments, individual pacing.

Parent reviews across the school's two-decade history are consistently strong. Families highlight the teacher quality, the school's approach to emotional and social development alongside academics, and a genuine sense of community in a school where everyone knows everyone. The campus location near a forest provides outdoor access that larger city schools cannot match. Class sizes are small by any standard, and the extended day programme (7:30-5:30) offers genuine flexibility for working parents.

The main structural reality to understand: IMSP stops at age 12. Families choosing it for toddler or primary need a clear secondary school plan. The school has established relationships with English College in Prague and local gymnazia for graduates, and reports that completing students perform well in their next schools. The Prague 4 Chodov location is not central - factor the commute if you're based in Prague 1 or Prague 6. Fees run CZK 238,000-348,000 per year for elementary, which is reasonable for the level of individual attention.
