In Brief
If you're British, your company is paying, and you want curriculum continuity with the UK, BSP is the natural fit. The Croissy location is the main friction point - plan the commute before committing.
BSP is France's only school officially inspected under the British Schools Overseas programme, and its results justify the designation: 2025 A-level pass rate at 100%, with 28% A*/A; GCSE 67% at grades 9-7. Head Nick Hammond has been in post since 2013 - that kind of tenure matters in international schools. The school has 36% British and 16% French students, with the remainder from over 65 other nationalities, so it's genuinely international rather than a British bubble.
The inclusive fee structure is a genuine selling point: tuition covers textbooks, exercise books, exam fees and most day trips. No technology levy, no uniform upcharge on top. The SEN department is relatively large for an international school - around 15% of primary students receive some level of support - and the school is experienced at supporting children arriving mid-year. Music and drama are consistently praised; 50 lunchtime and after-school clubs give children a real range of options.
Croissy-sur-Seine is about 20 minutes by RER A from the Champs-Elysees, which sounds manageable on paper. In practice, families living in the Marais, the 11th or the 13th are looking at 45-60 minutes each way at school run times. The EUR 8,000 non-refundable development fund is due on registration and is not recoverable if you leave early. Some past students have noted favouritism and inconsistency in teaching quality across departments - worth asking about specific teachers in your child's year group.
What parents value
- –Only BSO-inspected British school in France; 100% A-level pass rate, strong GCSE results. Head in post since 2013 - leadership stability that parents notice. Inclusive fee covers textbooks, exams and most day trips.
- –Large SEN department; experienced at mid-year arrivals. Strong music, drama and co-curricular programme. Non-profit charitable structure with clear governance.
Points of consideration
- –Croissy-sur-Seine is 20+ minutes by RER from central Paris; families in eastern or northern arrondissements should test the real journey time before committing. Bus service costs EUR 3,708-4,326 per year.
- –EUR 8,000 development fund on registration is non-refundable. Teaching quality varies by department and year group - ask to speak to parents in your child's specific year group rather than relying on general school reputation.
