The flagship of the ABQ Education Group, Oman's largest private school operator, running a Cambridge British curriculum from a campus that relocated to Bareeq Al Shatti Mall for the 2022-23 academic year.

Established in 1990 and acquired by Al Omania Education in 2009, ABQ Azzan Bin Qais is the longest-standing of the group's three premium international schools, sitting alongside the newer Seeb (2013) and Sohar (2015) campuses. ABQ schools hold dual CIS and COBIS accreditation, the only group in Oman to do so, with around 1,500 students in the 1.5 to 18 age range. Fees run roughly OMR 2,300 to 5,200, mid-market for Muscat.

Parent feedback runs hot in both directions. Many families speak warmly of dedicated teachers, the community feel, and the move to the new Bareeq Al Shatti site. A consistent minority complain about communication during admissions and staff turnover. The school competes mainly with the other Cambridge-stream options at this fee point rather than the IB-flagship pair of ABA and Al Sahwa.

  • ABQ is a long-standing fixture in Muscat private schooling, founded 1990, and shows up in every parent shortlist of strong Oman schools alongside TAISM, ABA and MIS.
  • Cost is the most concrete data point families share. One uncle paying for nieces and nephews at ABQ and United Private said fees average about 2,600 OMR per child per year.
  • A Muscat parent describing a KG1 hunt said ABQ MQ "looks reasonable, have heard more about this school from other expats", but flagged forced cafeteria fees and questions about food quality.
  • A separate parent thread captured a couple weighing a move from ABQ to British School Muscat, with one parent asking "What's so good about BSM other than being expensive?". Reads as ABQ being seen as solid value rather than a step down.
  • Parents praise teacher passion, community feel and student-led learning, with one Omani parent saying they feel "very proud of having a school such as Azzan bin Qais International School in Oman". One parent noted the school selectively cites favourable rankings, which buyers should weigh against independent indices.
