In Brief

A younger British school with a serious campus and genuinely small classes. Right for families in Interlomas, Huixquilucan or Santa Fe who want British-Cambridge-IB in a values-led environment. Not the choice if you need easy access from central CDMX.

The Wingate School opened in 2016 in Huixquilucan on a 40,000+ sq m campus - the largest of the three schools here. It follows a British curriculum (Cambridge International, IEYC, IPC) through to IB Diploma and is now part of the Inspired Education group. Class sizes average 20 with a maximum of 24, and teaching assistants are in place throughout primary. With 521 students from 35 nationalities, it's smaller than ASF or Greengates, which families describe as an asset: teachers know children individually.

Founders Tom Wingate led the school for its first ten years; Elena Casas took over as Head Teacher in 2025. The school has built a solid reputation for pastoral care and character education. Fees include most school supplies, academic books and one extracurricular activity from Primary onwards - a meaningful inclusion compared to other schools where these are charged separately. IB and IGCSE exam fees are included in tuition.

The Huixquilucan location is genuinely inconvenient for families in Roma, Condesa, Polanco or anywhere south of Reforma. If you are in Santa Fe, Interlomas or Lomas de Vista Hermosa, it works well. A thread on r/Internationalteachers noted that salaries are less competitive than at larger schools - worth asking about teacher retention at the interview stage. The school describes itself as a non-profit with a charitable ethos.

What parents value
  • Largest campus in the three-school comparison, with strong sports and arts facilities. Genuine small classes (20 average, 24 max) with teaching assistants. Fees include books, supplies and one extracurricular activity.
  • British-Cambridge pathway through to IB Diploma. Values and character education embedded throughout. Part of Inspired Education global network from 2024.
Points of consideration
  • Huixquilucan location makes it impractical for families based in central, south or east Mexico City. Confirm you can manage the daily commute before applying.
  • Younger school with a smaller alumni network than ASF or Greengates. Ask about staff retention and what the transition to new headship has looked like in practice.
