In Brief

Mexico's top-ranked IB school and the only one that mandates the full Diploma for all Year 12-13 students. Worth the commute if your child is academically capable and you are in the north or west of the city.

Greengates is the most academically credentialed international school in Mexico. Part of Nord Anglia Education since around 2018, it sits in Naucalpan, roughly 20 minutes north-west of Polanco in light traffic. IB Diploma pass rates run 98-100%, well above the global average; the school consistently places students at US, UK and European universities. It is the only school in Mexico that requires every student to complete the full IB Diploma - there is no partial option.

The campus covers 20,000 square metres with two libraries, nine science labs, a 700-seat auditorium, swimming pool and sports courts. The community of 1,100 students from 50+ nationalities is genuinely international: around two thirds are international families or dual nationals. A new leadership team arrived in late 2022 and families we have spoken to say communication and administration have improved noticeably since then. The bus system is well-organised and widely used.

Fees are not publicly listed; the school provides them on enquiry. Third-party estimates suggest annual tuition in the range of MXN 90,000-140,000 depending on year group. The commute from Roma, Condesa or Polanco is manageable but Naucalpan traffic during afternoon pick-up can add time. One former student flagged that anti-bullying culture is worth asking about - worth raising directly with the school.

What parents value
  • Mexico's strongest IB results; 98-100% Diploma pass rate, consistently the top-performing IB school in the country. Only school in Mexico requiring the full Diploma.
  • 100+ afternoon activities, five competitive sports and genuine multinational community. Strong university placement to UK, US, Europe and beyond.
  • Improved leadership and communication since 2022-23; well-organised bus network and rolling admissions for families arriving mid-year.
Points of consideration
  • Naucalpan location means the commute from central or south Mexico City is significant. Assess the morning and afternoon journey before committing, especially if you don't live in the Polanco-Lomas-Santa Fe corridor.
  • Fees are not published; contact admissions directly for current figures. Waiting lists exist for some year groups - apply as early as possible if Mexico City is confirmed.
