In Brief

ICS is Madrid's strongest full-IB school and the obvious choice if you need PYP-to-Diploma continuity in one place. The community is genuinely international, but it is the most expensive option in La Moraleja and administration is an area worth asking about.

International College Spain is one of a small number of schools in Spain that runs all three IB programmes on a single campus: PYP, MYP and Diploma. For families moving from IB schools elsewhere in the world, that continuity is a real selling point with no curriculum switch mid-school and no disruption to how your child learns. ICS has been running the IB for over 45 years, longer than almost anywhere else in the country, and the results reflect it - an average DP score of 35.2 in 2025, with more than 20% of students scoring 40 or above.

The campus in La Moraleja is well-resourced: a 400-seat auditorium, music and drama studios, sports pitches, and partnerships with MIT and The Juilliard School that feed into the curriculum. The community spans 70+ nationalities, and families who have been through mid-year moves say the school handles new arrivals well. Part of the Nord Anglia group since 2015, ICS benefits from group teacher development and global learning platforms.

The fee structure is the highest in the La Moraleja cluster, reaching EUR 25,635 for the Diploma Programme plus a EUR 3,000 enrolment fee. Reviews on International Schools Database are mixed - long-standing families are strongly positive, but a recurring theme among those who left is that administration and counselling in secondary need improvement, and class sizes can run larger than families expect at this price point. Ask specifically about class sizes in the year groups you are considering, and speak to parents in the secondary school before committing.

What parents value
  • Full IB continuum PYP through Diploma Programme in English - one of the only schools in Madrid where a child can complete the entire IB journey from age 3 to 18 without switching schools.
  • IB Diploma average of 35.2 in 2025, with over 20% scoring 40+ and consistent placement at top-ranked universities worldwide. Exclusive curriculum partnerships with MIT and The Juilliard School.
  • Over 70 nationalities in the student body. Nord Anglia group resources including global teacher training, student exchange programmes and collaborative projects across 80+ schools.
Points of consideration
  • Fees are the highest in La Moraleja, reaching EUR 25,635 for the Diploma Programme. The gap versus King's La Moraleja widens considerably in secondary. Ask whether the premium is justified for your child's specific year group.
  • Administration and secondary school counselling have come up in several recent reviews as areas for improvement. Ask specifically about how the school handles pastoral issues and university guidance before Year 11.
