A not-for-profit PreK-12 school in Hoang Mai's Dai Kim area, founded by Mai Bich Thuy and opening for the 2013-14 year after a multi-year build. Runs Cambridge through IGCSE and the IB Diploma in senior school.

Patrick Glennon leads. Around 300 students, 18 staff nationalities and families from over 22 countries, which is unusually diverse for a school of this size and explains some of the warm comments on culture. Since 2021 ISV has held a partnership with Reigate Grammar School in the UK, with a separate co-branded campus operating in Hanoi under that arrangement.

Pricing sits well below the British Vietnamese and UNIS tier. Families value the small, no-bullying feel and the Cambridge-into-IB route. The senior cohort is small, and academic results and university destinations are still being built up. Good fit for families wanting an English-medium IB pathway without the top-tier price tag.

  • forum threads about Hanoi schools mention ISV alongside the city's bigger names but rarely as a first choice; one teacher commented they had compared its Cambridge results unfavourably to peer schools.
  • Listed by long-time Hanoi residents as a reputable option for international families, just outside the traditional top tier of UNIS, Concordia, BIS and HIS.
  • Online discussion is thin and skews toward teachers; almost no parent voices surface in public forums.

Considerations

  • Sits below the established Hanoi top tier in reputation. Recurring framing in Hanoi school discussions places ISV as reputable but not in the same bracket as UNIS, Concordia, BIS or HIS.
  • Mixed teacher commentary on academic outcomes. One teacher said they had been shown Cambridge results and compared ISV unfavourably with peers. Single voice, not a pattern.
  • Limited parent signal online. Most public mentions are listing-style, with little detail on day-to-day experience.
