An Egyptian-owned American-curriculum school on the 27th km of the Cairo-Ismailia Desert Road, running KG to Grade 12 with AP in the upper school. Founded in 2005, AdvancED/Cognia accredited, and led by Dr Salma El Bakry. Independent parent commentary is sparse; what surfaces leans positive on teaching and pastoral warmth, with the recurring student-side gripe being a strict rules-and-grading culture in the upper grades.

Positives

  • Teaching and classroom feel. Teachers come up well in the small pool of independent feedback. Words used are warmth, patience, and a willingness to listen to both students and staff.
  • American + AP pathway. American diploma with AP options in the upper school, alongside the Egyptian Ministry of Education licence and AdvancED/Cognia accreditation. A conventional route into Egyptian private universities and overseas applications.

Considerations

  • Discipline and grading in the upper grades. Students talk about a heavy rules culture, with grades being docked for behaviour and uniform infractions rather than reserved for academic work. The complaint sharpens in high school.
  • Location and commute. Sits well out on the Cairo-Ismailia Desert Road. School transport runs from across greater Cairo, but the commute is the first thing to test for any family not already in New Cairo or Sheikh Zayed.

Leadership

Dr. Salma

Dr. Salma El Bakry is the Founder and Chairperson of New Generation International Schools and the Education First Foundation. She holds a PhD in Political Science and has led the institution for over 20 years. Her leadership is defined by the "Balanced Approach" philosophy, which seeks to harmonize academic excellence with vibrant student life and character development. Beyond NGIS, she is the founder of Asten College and a key figure in educational development in Egypt, focusing on professional learning communities and international student exchanges.
