In brief
Long-running British school in Al Rehab City, opened in 2001 and now operated by GEMS Education. Strong IGCSE results sit alongside a noticeable shift in tone since the GEMS acquisition.
Often called TBS locally, the school sits on Talaat Mostafa Road inside Al Rehab and follows the English national curriculum to IGCSE, AS and A level. CIS and BSME accredited. Results have historically been among the stronger British-stream sets in Cairo.
Families who have been there through the ownership change describe a more commercial feel under GEMS, with complaints about teacher turnover, appeals on predicted IGCSE grades, and patchy responsiveness from administration. Sport happens off site at the Rehab Club rather than on a dedicated school campus, which some parents accept and others find limiting.
Useful for families already living in eastern Cairo who want a known British pathway and accept that the school is now part of a large chain. Worth visiting in person and asking current Year 10 and 11 parents about how the IGCSE year groups are running.

Reviews
The only international school inside Al Rehab, and one of the older British schools in Cairo. The Cambridge IGCSE record sits at the top of the school's pitch, and the legacy results back that up. The GEMS years have not been universally welcomed: parents talk about a more commercial register, and complaints about teacher quality, communication and how grade appeals have been handled come up more than once.
Positives
- Cambridge results. IGCSE results have historically been among the stronger British-curriculum sets in Cairo, and the school leans on that record.
- Established British option in Al Rehab. Open since 2001 and the only international school inside Al Rehab itself, which removes the Ring Road commute for families already in the compound.
- Pathway through to Year 12. Full British route from Early Years through IGCSE to Cambridge A Levels on one site, with an IELTS strand attached for university prep.
Considerations
- GEMS ownership feel. Part of GEMS Education. Parents describe the post-acquisition tone as more commercial, with promises that some feel have not been kept.
- Teaching consistency. Parents flag uneven teaching quality across departments, with concerns about how well-qualified some staff are. Teacher-side commentary points to low pay and weak management as part of the picture.
- Predicted grades and appeals. There has been visible unhappiness around how predicted IG grades were handled in a recent cycle, with families saying appeals were not entertained.
- Sports and facilities. Compact 9,000 sqm campus with a mid-size pitch and a multipurpose hall, topped up by year-round access to the Rehab City sporting club. Parents who expect a full sports programme on site find it light.
- Communication and complaints handling. A recurring strand of feedback is that issues raised by parents do not move quickly, or at all.
- Fees. EGP 137,000 to EGP 217,000 a year on the most recent published bands. Mid-pack for British-curriculum Cairo rather than at the top.
