In Brief

AISE suits families who want a large American-curriculum school with modern facilities at EGP-equivalent fees, and who live in or can commute to the Uptown Cairo area. It is not the right fit if you need a predominantly non-Egyptian student body or a small, community-scale environment.

AISE is one of the largest American-curriculum schools in Cairo, enrolling around 1,880 students from 39 nationalities on a purpose-built 51,500 sq m campus in Uptown Cairo - a hilltop development by Emaar, reached via the 6th of October Bridge. The school relocated from its previous New Cairo site in September 2025. The new campus has capacity for 2,100 students and includes two pools, a regulation football pitch and a 400-seat auditorium. Accreditations from NEASC and WASC mean that the American Diploma and IB Diploma offered here are recognised by US universities without the need for additional documentation.

Fees starting at EGP 90,000 for Kindergarten and rising to around EGP 110,000 for middle school make AISE one of the most cost-accessible accredited international schools in Cairo by headline fee. The student body is approximately 80% Egyptian, with international families making up the remainder. The ESOL Education network, which also runs Cairo English School, provides curriculum oversight and a clear framework for teacher training and inspection.

The honest consideration is the community dynamic. At 1,880 students on a new campus, the school is large and still establishing routines post-relocation. Independent feedback rates the school at around 7 out of 10 - positive about facilities, administration and the physical environment, but noting that entitled student behaviour is a recurring issue in the secondary years, and that teacher retention is driven by salary rather than school culture. Families who have compared it directly with CAC describe it as the best-value American school in Cairo, but a step behind CAC in academic culture.

What parents value
  • New 51,500 sq m campus in Uptown Cairo with two pools, a regulation football pitch and a 400-seat auditorium. The facilities are among the best of any American-curriculum school in the city.
  • EGP fees starting at EGP 90,000 for Kindergarten make AISE significantly more accessible than dollar-denominated competitors at CAC or BISC. NEASC and WASC accreditation give the diploma full US university recognition.
  • Part of the ESOL Education network, which brings a structured curriculum framework and inspection process. Families arriving from other ESOL schools internationally will find a familiar operating model.
Points of consideration
  • The student body is approximately 80% Egyptian. Families seeking a predominantly international peer environment should visit and ask for the current nationality breakdown by year group before committing.
  • Uptown Cairo is a specific part of the city. Map the commute from your home or office - for families in Maadi, Zamalek or New Cairo, the Mokattam approach road can add meaningful time at peak hours.
  • Independent feedback flags student behaviour in the secondary years as an area to explore. Ask to spend time on campus during a normal school day and speak to current secondary parents rather than relying on open-day presentations.
