A large, established Sarjapur school running ICSE and international tracks on the same campus, at fees roughly half the premium IB schools. Big school energy: 2,000+ students, strong sport, IB and IGCSE results that actually stand up.

The setup is unusual for Bangalore. ICSE and international (IGCSE, IBDP) sections share infrastructure, which gives the campus genuine scale and a wide co-curricular offer. Academically the school has produced national IGCSE and ICSE toppers and IB averages above the world line, so the headline results are real.

The most consistent parent complaint is around fee transparency and mid-year hikes, which has produced organised pushback from parent groups in recent years. The peer mix skews local Bangalorean families on the ICSE side; expat families looking for an international-only environment typically prefer Stonehill, CIS, or Oakridge. Good fit for families wanting a Cambridge or IB pathway without paying premium fees.

Annual fees

Year level Age Fee
Grades 1-8 (International Curriculum - Day) 3 ₹300,000
Grades 9-10 (Cambridge IGCSE - Day) 14 ₹450,000
Grades 9-10 (Cambridge IGCSE - Boarding) 14 ₹925,000
Grades 11-12 (IB Diploma - Day) 16 ₹550,000

  • Greenwood High has high public visibility and a polarised review pool. Aggregate scores split sharply across campuses, which suggests experience varies by stream and year group.
  • The IB Diploma stream is the strongest performer. The 2025 Diploma cohort posted a 99% pass rate, with one student scoring a perfect 45 and more than 27% above 40 points. University placements include University of Pennsylvania, Columbia, Cornell, Brown, Imperial and UCLA.
  • Multiple parents and ex-students describe Greenwood as a top Cambridge or IB option in Bangalore, with strong peer groups and demanding academics. One alumnus credited the international stream for broadening their worldview.
  • The same group of ex-students flags two recurring concerns: one student wrote that the school "will make your life miserable if you're not able to perform", and that ICSE students at the school underperform their IB peers. A separate account notes elitism and drug issues at the higher fee tiers in Bangalore international schools generally, naming Greenwood as one of those schools.
  • Parents are critical of fee transparency and college-counselling administration. One parent flagged year-on-year fee hikes around 30% in some grades and documents being uploaded late or incorrectly to universities.
  • The fit question is real: top-end IB students do well; ICSE families and students who are not at the top of the cohort report a tougher experience.

Positives

  • IB outcomes. Strong 2025 Diploma results and Ivy/Russell-Group placements; IB stream is the headline strength

Considerations

  • Stream gap. ICSE students reportedly underperform IB peers in the same school
  • Academic pressure. Demanding standards praised by high performers, criticised as harsh by students who struggle
  • Fees and admin. Parent reviewers flag opaque fee hikes and late or incorrect college-counselling document submissions
  • Peer culture. Strong peer group cited as a draw; one Reddit comment flags elitism and drug issues at higher-fee Bangalore schools, including this one
