In brief
A long-standing British-pattern school in Khalda, opened in 1986 and now operating as Repton New English School under a partnership with Repton in Derbyshire.
Around 1,500 students from age two to eighteen, drawn from over 35 nationalities. Cambridge Primary feeds into IGCSE and A Level, with an English Only Stream that runs alongside the bilingual track. The English Only route is what attracts most foreign families, since it removes the heavy Arabic load that local-track Jordanian schools build in.
Facilities are unusually strong for Amman, with a theatre, indoor sports halls and a 1,000-seat football stadium. The Repton tie-up brings staff exchanges, curriculum support and access to the Repton schools network beyond Jordan. Parent reviews talk most about teacher accessibility and a small-community feel despite the size. Fees JOD 3,650 to 11,900 a year, mid-market for the city.

Reviews
A long-running Khalda fixture under the same chairmanship since 1986, NES runs a dual British and American track on one campus. The Cambridge route through IGCSE and A Level is the better-known half, with the American High School Diploma and AP available alongside. Parent commentary leans positive on community feel and continuity, with a few sharper notes about individual staff conduct and the pace of change at management level.
Positives
- Settled, established academic offering. Cambridge Primary endorsement since 2010/11, IGCSE and AS/A Level through Years 12 and 13, plus a US-accredited American Diploma with AP. Most leavers go on to universities in the UK, US, Canada and Jordan.
- International mix on a Jordanian campus. Around 1,000 pupils drawn from 39 nationalities. An English-only stream from Early Years has pulled in foreign families who would otherwise look elsewhere in West Amman.
- Facilities and breadth. Theatre, sports halls, a large football pitch, science and ICT labs, a clinic and a sizeable transport fleet sit on one Khalda site. MUN, music and sport run alongside academics rather than as add-ons.
Considerations
- Fees sit in the upper Jordanian band. Day fees run from roughly JOD 3,650 at the youngest end to around JOD 11,900 at the top, with transport, deposit and supplies on top. Affordable against Gulf international schools, premium against most Amman private schools.
- Individual teacher conduct. Some alumni and parent accounts flag specific teachers as unfair or harsh in tone, including handling of grades in front of class. Pattern is isolated rather than school-wide.
- Management pace and progression. Staff-side commentary points to limited internal growth paths and turnover at management level. The chairmanship has been stable since founding, which families read as continuity and some staff read as slow to shift.
