Reviews
Aldar Education's first American campus, on Yas Island and the group's most Emirati-heavy school. Sarah Griffiths took over in January 2024 and the senior team has tightened leadership, governance, and parent partnership since. Good with Very Good features at inspection. AP-heavy upper school, strong STEAM facilities, Manchester City sports tie-in. Where the school stretches is Arabic, Islamic and Social Studies, where outcomes sit only Acceptable despite the Emirati majority, and the secondary phases trail what the elementary is doing.
Positives
- Leadership change. Sarah Griffiths arrived from inside the Aldar group in January 2024 and the new senior team is credited with tightening governance, staffing and the parent partnership.
- Academic offer. Fourteen-plus AP courses anchor the high school, with the school reporting close to all leavers moving on to university. Elementary results sit comfortably above UAE norms on MAP testing.
- Facilities and partnerships. STEAM labs, an e-sports room and the Manchester City coaching link give the campus an Aldar-funded feel. New gamification and AI strands are being layered in from September 2025.
- Student belonging. A large Emirati cohort, around two-thirds of the roll, gives the school a settled local feel and parents talk warmly about how their children fit in.
Considerations
- Arabic and Islamic Studies. Arabic, Islamic Studies and Social Studies were judged only Acceptable at the last inspection, which is a notable gap for a school where the majority of students are Emirati.
- Middle and high school. Outcomes in the middle and high phases sit a step behind elementary, and external benchmarks have come in below international averages in some core subjects.
- Value for money. Fees land in the upper-mid AED bracket and a chunk of parents push back on whether the experience matches the price.
- Behaviour and pastoral. Behaviour management and safeguarding earn strong marks from inspectors, but a meaningful slice of parents flag bullying concerns at a rate above the national pattern.
