In brief
A small Japanese day school in Uster serving the Japanese expat community, following the Ministry of Education curriculum exactly as it would be taught in Japan. Best suited to families on a Japanese rotation who need their child to slot back into school in Tokyo or Osaka without losing a step.
The school began as a Saturday language school in 1975 and opened as a full day school in 1988. Kindergarten through junior high. Teachers come from Japan, the timetable mirrors a school in Japan, and Japanese is the language of instruction. English and German classes sit alongside as additional subjects, twice a week each for German.
Facilities are functional rather than fancy. Home economics room, art and craft room, science room, music room, library, gym, and an outdoor sports ground. Fees are noticeably lower than the English-medium international schools in central Zurich. The Uster location sits about 20 minutes east of the city by train. Families looking for an English-medium IB or bilingual Swiss path will not find it here. Families on a Japan posting will.
