A Cambridge International School in Kiba, Koto-ku, running Early Years through Grade 12 with IGCSE and A-Level pathways at affordable fees by Tokyo standards.

UIA was founded in 2011 as Tathva International School and rebranded under its current name in April 2020. The programme runs IPC in primary, then IGCSE and Cambridge AS and A-Level in upper secondary, with English as the medium of instruction. The school cites 80-plus university acceptances over recent years. Fees run JPY 1.14 to 1.99 million, substantially lower than the established Tokyo international names.

Parents praise the caring teachers, the family feel and the quality of the Cambridge curriculum at this price point. The main caveat is facilities. The school operates out of a converted office building with no dedicated outdoor play area, and students walk to a nearby park for outdoor time. Families happy with a no-frills setting and a strong academic spine tend to settle in well. Anyone wanting full sports, drama and arts infrastructure will find this lean.

  • Parents praise caring teachers, a close community feel, and a structured Cambridge curriculum that feels solid even in primary years.
  • Facilities are the main drawback. Reviews mention a converted office building, shared premises, and no dedicated outdoor play area.
  • Staff comments broadly echo the facilities concern and add management frustrations, though some praise friendly colleagues, work-life balance, and children at the school.

Positives

  • Teachers and community. Parent signal is strong on caring teachers, support, engagement, and a family-like atmosphere.
  • Curriculum. The Cambridge curriculum is described as structured, balanced, and academically solid in the parent review.

Considerations

  • Facilities. Parents, students, and staff all point to facility limitations, including an office-building setting and no dedicated outdoor play area.
  • Management. Teacher comments praise colleagues and work-life balance, but raise concerns about management, evaluation, benefits, and investment.
