In brief
The Malvern College family's first Japan school, opened August 2023 on a 15,000-plus square metre Kodaira campus, running an all-through British curriculum into the IB Diploma.
Operated by Malvern College International, the school sits in Kodaira about 40 minutes from central Tokyo on a green, low-rise site repurposed from a Kisho Kurokawa-designed building. The plan is to grow to Year 13 by 2027 and around 900 pupils, currently running through Year 10. The pitch is British structure plus the IB MYP and DP, with an English house system woven in.
Early intake includes returning Japanese families, bicultural households, and expats already living in west Tokyo. Parents praise the spacious campus, the energy and quality of staff, and a strong communication rhythm through the Toddle app and weekly newsletters. The trade-offs are familiar with any new opening, the cohort is still small, sibling year groups are thin in places, and the upper school IB results are not yet established. Families weigh that against fresh facilities and a teacher-pupil ratio that suits new arrivals.
