Founded by third-generation Singaporean Sharon Solomon in 2008, The Winstedt School addresses gaps in Singapore's traditional education system by creating an inclusive environment specifically designed for students who learn differently. Located in Kallang at 1208 Upper Boon Keng Road, the school operates with The Winstedt Way™ - a model combining differentiated instruction, inclusive practices, and whole-child development. The school maintains an exceptional 1:4 educator-to-student ratio, ensuring each child receives personalized attention while working closely with an in-house Therapy and Pastoral Care team.

The school offers education from Reception through Year 13, culminating in a WASC-accredited High School Diploma that enables graduates to progress to universities and careers worldwide. Recent curriculum additions include the eXplore pathways: Young Explorers Programme for Years 1-2 and EXPLORE for Years 3-6, integrating Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, and social-emotional learning tailored to individual student profiles. Unlike Singapore's mainstream international schools that typically offer IB or IGCSE programmes, Winstedt focuses on flexibility and therapeutic integration rather than standardized examination pathways.

Strengths

  • Exceptional 1:4 educator-to-student ratio ensuring personalized attention
  • Integrated therapy support with in-house Occupational Therapy and Speech Language Therapy teams
  • WASC accreditation providing recognized pathway to international universities
  • Specialized focus on supporting neurodiverse learners and students with learning differences
  • The Winstedt Way™ approach combining academic learning with therapeutic intervention

Considerations

  • Significantly higher fees (S$37,600-60,495) compared to some local alternatives
  • Limited visibility in Singapore's international education discussions compared to established IB schools
  • No traditional examination board qualifications like IGCSE or IB Diploma offered
  • Specialized focus may not suit families seeking mainstream academic pathways
  • Single campus location in Kallang may be less convenient for some families
  • Limited public information about university placement outcomes and academic performance data

Academics

The Winstedt School does not offer the IB Diploma Programme. Students graduate with the WASC-accredited Winstedt Diploma (available since June 2022). In the Secondary School, students sit IGCSE exams in core subjects.

  • Parent-facing signal is positive but small, centering on the specialist learning-support model, small classes, and a setting built for students who learn differently.
  • Staff reviews are much more mixed. Teachers repeatedly praise colleagues, inclusion, and meaningful work with students, but also flag leadership churn, stretched classroom resources, and burnout.
  • Facilities come up as a caution. Reviewers describe the campus as older or limited, even when they are positive about the teaching team and student support.
