  • The early years are the most consistently praised part of AIS. Parents describe a "slow gentle approach to learning" through preschool and Prep, without academic pressure.
  • Pastoral feel comes up across reviews. One parent said the "school environment is very pleasant, and the teachers are especially friendly", and credited staff with easing a move from China to Singapore.
  • The dual-pathway offer, IB Diploma alongside the Australian HSC, is named as a genuine reason families choose AIS, alongside the January-December calendar that suits mid-year arrivals.
  • Sport and co-curriculars get strong marks. Parents and staff cite a "no cut" ethos in representative teams and 100% top-decile parent ratings for performing and fine arts.
  • Scale cuts both ways. Some families value the breadth of a 2,000-plus campus; others worry the Early Learning Village is too large and that fees, around S$36k a year at senior levels, are high.
  • A minority of comments raise inclusion concerns. One parent described the school as feeling "a little 'exclusionary' to non-white parents and kids".
  • Some aggregate parent ratings sit lower than the warm individual quotes would suggest, hinting at a quieter pool of dissatisfied families.

Head of school

Steve Lupton

It is a genuine privilege to lead the Australian International School in Singapore. I am continually inspired by the ambition, diversity, and warmth of our community, where respect and authenticity thrive, and every individual is encouraged to grow and contribute with purpose. AIS offers an exceptional academic foundation built on high expectations and personalised support. We place character, curiosity, and courage at the heart of our approach. We nurture character through strong relationships and a commitment to wellbeing. We spark curiosity by encouraging students to explore ideas, think deeply, and embrace challenge. We build courage by helping young people step forward, try new things, and grow from experience. These qualities shape learners who are grounded, capable, and ready to make meaningful contributions.
