Lycee Francais International Georges Pompidou

Lycee Francais International Georges Pompidou (LFIGP) is the only French-government-accredited school in Sharjah, founded in 1978 and operated as a not-for-profit under AEFE. The Al Abar campus follows the French national curriculum from Maternelle through Terminale, with an IB Diploma…

Curriculum
French Baccalaureate, AEFE, IB Diploma
Fees, annual
AED 27–32k
Ages
3 to 18
Pupils
~2,400 (all campuses)
Founded
1974

The original LFIGP Sharjah closed at the end of the 2022-23 year and the Al Abar campus was taken over by Ecole Internationale Francaise Sharjah, which now operates the site under the AEFE network. Currently a primary-only school building back up through Collège.

LFIGP Sharjah opened in 1978 as part of the LFIGP group covering Dubai and Sharjah. The Sharjah branch closed at the end of 2022-23, and EIFS took over the campus, staffing, and SPEA Very Good rating in late 2023. The school remains AEFE-approved and runs the French national curriculum.

For 2024-25, EIFS operates Petite Section through 6eme, with plans to extend to 5eme in 2025-26 and through Collège over time. Families who need lycée and IB Diploma stages currently route to LFIGP Dubai sites or other AEFE schools in the UAE.

If listings still show the LFIGP brand with full age range and IB Diploma, that reflects the previous operator. For new applicants the practical choice is EIFS for primary, with upper years still being built out year by year.

  • The Sharjah campus closed at the end of 2022-23 and the site, staff and student body were taken on by Ecole Internationale Française - Sharjah (EFIS), a separate operator.
  • Until closure, LFIGP-Sharjah held a Very Good rating from Sharjah's SPEA, with Brevet and Bac pass rates reported between 97% and 100%.
  • The little surfaced parent commentary on the historic LFIGP Sharjah campus is uniformly positive but limited to short Edarabia entries.
  • Families looking for the same name today are pointed to the LFIGP Dubai campuses (Academic City, Oud Metha) rather than Sharjah; the website still lists Sharjah on its history pages, which adds confusion.
  • For prospective Sharjah families, current reviews would speak to EFIS, not LFIGP, and EFIS itself does not yet have an independent parent review base.
