Dulwich College Shanghai Pudong
British international school established in 2003 in Jinqiao, Pudong, serving around 1,600 students aged 2-18 from over 40 nationalities. Fees for 2025-2026 range from RMB 274,000 (Toddlers) to RMB 399,750 (Year 12-13), with a one-time RMB 15,000 capital development fee…
In brief
The original Dulwich College International campus and one of Pudong's anchor British schools, with a long IB record and a settled position in Jinqiao.
Dulwich Pudong opened in 2003 as the first school in the Dulwich College International family and now runs around 1,500 students from age 2 to 18 on Lan An Road in Jinqiao, drawing from more than 40 nationalities. The school follows the English National Curriculum into IGCSE and the IB Diploma, with CIS and WASC accreditation and Garry Russell as headmaster. IB averages have run several points above the global mean.
Families who choose Dulwich Pudong cite the academic record, the long IB pedigree, the arts breadth, and the family-friendly Jinqiao setting that lets many children walk or bike in. The recurring soft complaint is that competitive sports lag the larger US-style schools, and that bullying response has been uneven enough to surface in formal reviews. Operated by Dulwich College International under license from the UK Dulwich, not by the founding charity in London.

Reviews
- IB Diploma results are consistently above the global average. Parent voices on the Good Schools Guide and aggregator pages describe academics as the headline strength.
- Teachers treat Pudong as one of Shanghai's stronger British-curriculum schools. One commenter said "if you want quality of education, then Dulwich (Pudong campus) are choices that'll provide that". Another said "Dulwich Beijing and Shanghai Pudong are pretty good and do stand up to the best schools".
- Two negative undercurrents recur. A January 2025 teacher comment said "Dulwich is cutting costs across the board" with staff let go recently, naming Pudong specifically. A second strand from teachers describes high contact hours, with the qualifier that pay matches the load.
- Parent reports flag dissatisfaction with competitive sport (one parent quoted in the Good Schools Guide as saying sports day was "lacklustre") and patchy awareness of the school's bullying policy among parents.
- The international mix is wide, with over forty nationalities. One parent quote on the school site, allowing for the marketing context, points to teachers who "go the extra mile".
