In brief
The German federal-government recognised school in Prague, running from kindergarten through Abitur on a single campus in Jinonice and part of the worldwide network of around 140 German schools abroad.
DSP opened in 1990 as a post-Cold War encounter school and now serves roughly 600 students from age 3 to 18. It carries the ZfA quality seal (Excellent German School Abroad) and runs both a German section ending in the Allgemeine Hochschulreife and a parallel Czech-German gymnasium. The fit is clear for German-speaking families on a posting and for Czech families committed to a German university pathway.
Parents are mostly positive on the academics and the speed at which children pick up German. Recent grumbles cluster around fees climbing year on year, classes feeling fuller, and a couple of strict teachers who do not flex easily. The cafeteria comes up too. A new head, Hanna Budde-Mäkinen, took over in 2025 so the leadership voice is still settling. Those choosing this over PBIS or ISP usually want the German curriculum specifically rather than an English-medium international school.

Reviews
- Public review signal is mixed and unusually negative for a German Excellent School certification holder. Most parent and student commentary clusters on iSchoolAdvisor, schoolinreviews and Wanderlog.
- Several student reviews describe the atmosphere as "heavy and unwelcoming", with bullying flagged as poorly handled.
- One review said "good teachers who actually care and try are leaving", with critical voices pointing to administrative culture and fear of the headmaster.
- A counter strand praises the gymnasium, food, and the speed at which children pick up German, alongside a settled core of dedicated teachers.
- Fee positioning and management practices come up repeatedly as friction points; the school is mid-renovation.
