In brief
PPMI was the first Montessori school in Phnom Penh, founded in 2011, with AMS, AMI and MCI-trained teachers. Caters to ages 18 months to 6 through Montessori, plus a Grade 1 to 5 American Primary Programme that integrates Montessori materials.
The school operates two campuses in Sen Sok, the original on Street 13B near Midtown Mall and a second site on Street 1986. The model is classic Montessori at the preschool end, with mixed-age groupings, self-directed work cycles and a guided-learning approach. The American Primary Programme extends Montessori principles into structured elementary years. Director Chamroeun Koun.
Parents describe genuine Montessori practice rather than a marketing veneer, and engaged teachers committed to the method. The community is small and the approach suits families already aligned with self-directed learning. The trade-off is scale. The primary cohort is modest and there is no secondary, so transfer planning starts early. Best fit for families wanting an authentic Montessori early years and primary in Phnom Penh with credible AMI and AMS-trained staff.
