Part of the Phorms Education network, a German-English bilingual school in Munich-Bogenhausen next to the Englischer Garten. Continuous bilingual education from creche to Abitur for around 650 students, with an IB Certificate option layered on top.

The secondary school is state-recognised and prepares students for the Bavarian Abitur, with roughly 40 percent of lessons in lower and middle school taught in English, mainly in maths, science, music and art. Phorms is also an IB World School, currently offering individual IB Certificates including English and Business Management. Abitur class of 2024 averaged 1.97.

Family experience is genuinely mixed. Long-tenured parents praise teacher quality, language outcomes and the bilingual continuity from kindergarten upward. A consistent strand of criticism focuses on facilities, particularly sports provision and condition of communal areas, and on whether academic depth fully matches Bavarian Gymnasium standards: a few families have reported repeating a year after transferring out to the public system.

  • Parent reviews split. Long-stayers describe seven-year journeys from kindergarten through secondary, with confident bilingual children and warm staff relationships.
  • Critics flag thin sports provision: no proper sports hall, a basketball ring without a court, and a small dusty break area where children pick up most of their injuries.
  • Cleanliness and building condition come up repeatedly, with parents calling the school dirty and smelly relative to its fees.
  • Drop-off and traffic management is a recurring grievance, including reports of an unfriendly staff member managing the queue.
  • Academic rigour draws the sharpest criticism. Some parents say teaching trails the Bavarian Gymnasium standard, with at least one report of a child having to repeat a year after transferring to a public Gymnasium.
  • Phorms is positioned as the affordable bilingual option in Munich, roughly a third to a quarter of MIS fees, but parents describe it as an exception rather than a default in their networks.
