An English-medium IB school 50 minutes outside Munich, opened in 2005 to serve families priced out of the city. Around 350 students from roughly 38 nationalities, with a new purpose-built Gersthofen campus due 2027.

ISA is the only international school for 60 km around Augsburg, which gives it a near-monopoly for families who chose Augsburg over Munich for the housing math. The community is genuinely multinational and the IB Diploma is delivered through Grade 12. CIS-accredited, Cambridge-recognised, and approved by the Bavarian ministry.

Parents talk warmly about teacher engagement in the early years, including good support for dyslexia. Middle-school feedback has been more uneven historically, with concerns raised about non-native English teaching and weaker maths instruction in some periods. The new campus opening in 2027-2028 is designed for 550 students, so growth and stretch are part of the picture for anyone joining now.

  • ISA is small-cohort and IB-track, set up as a non-profit Aktiengesellschaft where shares were historically held by parents, alumni and local supporters as a form of donation.
  • Parent feedback online is limited but consistent. One parent reports their dyslexic daughter's reading and writing improved "immensely" with teacher encouragement.
  • Other parent comments flag concerns about middle-school instruction quality and teacher motivation.
  • A 100% recommend rate from a small review pool sits alongside the more critical individual reviews on directory and forum sites.
  • The school is the main English-medium IB option in the Augsburg area; the practical question parents weigh is the Gersthofen location and the small cohort size, not curriculum or accreditation.
