In brief
A Jesuit Catholic K-12 school in Greenhills, San Juan, with a distinctive Chinese-Filipino identity and a mandatory Chinese programme. Founded in 1956 and now PAASCU Level 3 accredited and an authorised IB Diploma World School.
The original mission was educating the Chinese-Filipino community, and that culture is still central: most students come from Chinese-Filipino families and Chinese is required across all grades. Alumni move into prominent business and political roles, and the alumni network is part of why families stay loyal across generations.
Academically the school sits at the top of the local private tier, with strong university outcomes and substantial financial aid. Fees are high by Philippine standards but well below the BGC international schools, and the tone is more traditional Catholic-Jesuit than international.
Reviews
- Parent and alumni discussion presents Xavier as academically solid, socially powerful, and especially known for its Chinese-Filipino community and long-term peer network.
- Families value the extracurricular range, facilities, technology use, values formation, advanced maths and Chinese classes, and the senior IB route.
- The recurring cautions are culture and fit. Commenters describe a wealthy, sheltered student body, possible bullying in younger years, weaker Chinese teaching than some rival Chinese schools, and admissions questions around Mandarin readiness.
- Staff feedback is generally positive on salary, benefits, peer support, and professional development, but several teachers flag heavy workload, overtime culture, and pressure.
