Engage is the rebrand of the long-established Colegio San Luis Gonzaga in Majadahonda, in Madrid's northwest expat belt, now part of Dukes Education. Trilingual programme for ages 0 to 18 running the British curriculum alongside the Spanish system.

The school renamed in 2017 and joined Dukes Education in recent years, giving access to a broader UK and European network of schools. Teaching follows a Four Cs framework around curiosity, creativity, critical thinking and communication, with English as the main immersion language, Spanish balanced through the day and French added later. Fees sit roughly between EUR 5,050 and EUR 7,870.

Parents describe a family-friendly tone under director Carolina López, accessible teachers, and a school that talks more about wellbeing and personal growth than results-table positions. The historical San Luis Gonzaga reputation still draws Spanish families. Best fit for Majadahonda and Pozuelo families wanting a less pressurised British-Spanish blend, with the Dukes connection in the background rather than the foreground.

  • A long-established school in Majadahonda, west of Madrid, formerly San Luis Gonzaga and acquired by UK group Dukes Education in 2022. Now operates as Engage International School from age 0 to 18 with the Madrid regional curriculum delivered in English-strong tracks.
  • Sits among the higher EvAU university entrance grades in the Madrid region according to school directories, with a long history under the previous brand. First Spanish school to receive the GOLD Responsible Screens certification.
  • Parent feedback collected on Spanish school directories is mixed. Several reviews credit the post-Dukes leadership for closeness, transparency and willingness to listen. Other reviews call the curriculum no different from the standard Madrid regional one and accuse the school of marketing innovation it does not deliver.
  • One critical review on Spanish platforms calls the director arrogant and accuses them of using power as a daily tool. Aggregate Google rating sits around 4.1 of 5 from roughly 70 reviews.
  • No Reddit, Mumsnet or English-language expat-forum signal yet. Day-to-day feedback runs through Spanish parent platforms, MumAbroad's English-language listing, and the Dukes group communications.

Head of school

Carolina López

My passion for education led me to study Hispanic Philology, and I have dedicated twenty years to this wonderful world, touching the lives of many from the classroom and beyond. I have also had the privilege of guiding pedagogical teams, both in national and international schools, always transmitting positive leadership and unity at every step. I would like to convey my commitment to families to walk together in this changing world, building a future where our students not only learn, but also live, dream and become the best versions of themselves.
