Alegra is a small British school in Madrid founded in 2011, running the English National Curriculum to age 11 and the IB Diploma in the senior years. Sits in the Pozuelo and Aravaca corridor where most British and bilingual families look.

Around 1,000 students from age 2 to 18. Day is built around the EYFS and English National Curriculum with Spanish language and humanities required by Spanish law, then transitions to MYP and the IB Diploma in secondary. Strong emphasis on parent communication, with daily diary entries and a ClassDojo feed in the early years and termly parent talks higher up.

Independent parent voice on Alegra is thin compared to the older Madrid British schools, but the schools that run a similar bilingual British plus IB model attract families wanting a UK-style early years feel paired with the international portability of an IB Diploma. Best fit for families committed to a long stay through IB rather than treating the school as a stepping stone.
